Deb Girard, Executive Director of IMPACT Melanoma, is pleased to announce a partnership with UV Skinz, Inc. This partnership is exciting for IMPACT Melanoma as it establishes a partner for high-quality, sun-protective clothing for all ages.
IMPACT Melanoma is dedicated to increasing awareness of the dangers of UV exposure and has developed prevention education programs that include tools for all ages to protect their skin, the body’s largest organ. Sun protective clothing is an integral element of decreasing the risks of being diagnosed with skin cancer including melanoma.
Melanoma Facts
Melanoma is the most preventable cancer, yet it is the deadliest form of skin cancer. On average, one person dies from melanoma every hour in the US. Americans of all ages can avoid a melanoma diagnosis by regularly using sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, wearing a wide brim hat, sunglasses, and sun protective clothing. Increasing awareness and encouraging people of all ages to adopt sun safe habits is a priority for IMPACT Melanoma, the largest national non-profit in the United States dedicated to awareness, prevention education, and patient support.
The Powerful Combination of Sunscreen and Protective Clothing
IMPACT Melanoma has developed many prevention programs that include toolkits to reduce the dangers of UV exposure. Through its Practice Safe Skin program, IMPACT Melanoma has established Partners in Prevention throughout the country that fund sunscreen dispensers to make free sunscreen accessible in communities, parks, and beaches across the country. Access to sunscreen is essential to IMPACT Melanoma’s mission, but the effect of offering free sunscreen and UPF protective clothing is a powerful combination to enable more Americans to adopt and practice sun safe habits and to ultimately save lives.
Partnering with UV Skinz is an essential element to IMPACT Melanoma’s strategy to offer existing and new Partners in Prevention the opportunity to purchase and distribute sun protective clothing.
Initial Launch of Partnership – Protecting Baby’s Sensitive Skin
An initial focus of this new partnership will reach new parents via IMPACT Melanoma’s No Sun for Babies Program. UV Skinz has its own campaign, My First Skinz, that has tremendous synergy in educating new parents of the importance of protecting a baby’s sensitive skin. IMPACT Melanoma-branded baby blankets from UV Skinz will now be incorporated into all No Sun for Babies program kits. Additionally, UV Skinz will be supplying IMPACT Melanoma with an expected 5,000 sun protective UPF 50+ baby shirts as part of their May Melanoma Awareness promotion.
“We have incredible alignment and that is what makes a real partnership successful. Our missions are aligned, our values are aligned, as is our common goal of making melanoma a thing of the past in the United States,” explains Deb Girard. “They offer high-quality UPF protective products and we are thrilled to launch this partnership starting initially with our No Sun for Babies program.”
And reaching parents of babies is just the beginning in this partnership.
Expanding the Impact
IMPACT Melanoma looks forward to their Partners in Prevention being able to select from a wide variety of UV Skinz sun protective clothing for outdoor workers, parks & recreation workers, and people of all ages, including funding distribution of UV Skinz clothing in inner cities and for people at risk. With the partnership with UV Skinz, IMPACT Melanoma will make measurable progress on its mission to raise awareness, promote the importance of prevention and early detection, and ultimately save lives.
IMPACT Melanoma is excited to have a partner in UV Skinz who shares our passion and commitment to being sun safe and saving lives.
We will be sharing more about the UV Skinz story in an upcoming article. In the meantime, visit their website and place an order. Afterall, May is Melanoma Awareness month and it is the perfect time to adopt sun safe habits.
