KEEPER OF THE HOPE AWARD
Each year the Board of Directors of IMPACT Melanoma presents the Keeper of the Hope Award to a member of our IMPACT community whose generosity, vision and commitment to the organization over time is unwavering. This award is named after Suzanne Donahue, a young woman who lost her battle with melanoma at age 37. Suzanne was gracious, giving and reminded us all about the power of giving-back no matter what your circumstance.
We are thrilled to announce that the Keeper of the Hope Award honoree is Dr. Emily Wise. Emily will be presented with this award at our annual Shades of Hope Celebration on Friday, October 27, 2023 at the Four Seasons Boston.
It all began in 2005 when Emily Wise approached us when she was as a medical student at Boston University and was looking for opportunities to volunteer and make a difference to reduce the risk of skin cancer and melanoma. Little did we know that almost 20 years later, Emily would still be active with IMPACT Melanoma as a teacher and medical advisory board member. For nearly 20 years, Emily has been a member of the Board of Directors, worked to make tanning bed history for teens in New England, trained hundreds of beauty professionals with the Skinny On Skin program, and helped bring Your Skin Is In to high schools nationwide.
Today, Emily is a board certified dermatologist and the founder of Derm Wellesley, a full service dermatology practice as well as a wife and mother of two young children.
We are so grateful for Emily’s expertise, continued commitment to educating others and support for IMPACT Melanoma’s mission.
